The safety risk of open-pit mines is lower than that of underground mines,but there is a hidden danger of collapse accidents in waste dump.Based on the data of mine collapse accidents from 2013 to 2022 recorded in the global emergency disaster database,5 typical cases of open-pit mine collapse accidents at home and abroad were selected for study,the basic situation of the accidents was briefly introduced,and the common causes of the 5 accidents were summarized.On this basis of the analysis of deep-seated reasons behind the accidents,and some development suggestions for further improving the safety production management of open-pit mines in China were put forward,including strengthening the revision of mining legislation,implementing the main responsibilities of mining enterprises,improving regulatory and supervisory levels,and enhancing technical security capabilities.
