Comparative Study of the Properties of Pure Molybdenum,TZM and MHC Alloy Bars
Pure molybdenum,TZM and MHC alloy rods were prepared by powder metallurgy process, and the mi-crostructure,hardness,room temperature and 1 000℃ high temperature mechanical properties of the materials were comparatively investigated by means of tensile mechanical property test, hardness test, metallographic analysis and electron microscope analysis. The results show that the tensile strengths of pure molybdenum,TZM and MHC alloys at room temperature are 710 MPa,788 MPa and 843 MPa,respectively. The high temperature tensile strengths at 1 000℃ are 223 MPa,423 MPa and 499MPa,respectively.The main reinforcement of molybdenum alloys is solid solution strengthening as well as strengthening by the second phase carbides TiC,ZrC and HfC.MHC molybdenum alloys have superior overall performance due to the higher melting point and finer grain size of the second-phase car-bide,HfC,compared to TiC and ZrC.
