Erosion and Wear Characteristics of High-Concentration Slurry Conveying 90° Elbow Pipe Based on CFD-DPM Model
In slurry pipelines with complex working conditions, the main cause of pipeline failure is erosion and wear.Erosion in pipelines occurs mainly at locations where the flow direction or structure changes such as typical elbows, reducers. This article is based on the CFD-DPM coupling model to simulate and study the effects of solid particle size, slurry flow rate, and slurry concentration on the erosion and wear of a 90°bend pipe in a slurry conve-ying pipeline of a certain beneficiation plant under complex operating conditions in liquid-solid two-phase flow. The results showed that the erosion wear of the bent pipe was the most severe, and the erosion wear rate at the 90°bend was linearly related to the slurry concentration;when the flow rate reaches 5 m/s,the erosion and wear rate at the 90° bend changes significantly;when the particle size is in the range of 0.037 4~0.075 0 mm,there is no signifi-cant change in the erosion wear rate at the 90° bend, while the erosion wear rate at the 90° bend changes signifi-cantly when the particle size reaches 0.150 mm.This paper can effectively evaluate the erosion wear area and wear rate of slurry transportation pipelines, and provide a technical basis for pipeline safety operation and maintenance and life prediction.
