Effect of Planting Density on Growth and Leaf Feeding Quality of Apocynum Hendersonii at Different Growth Stages
In order to investigate the effect of planting density on the plant growth and leaf forage nu-trient quality of Apocynum hendersonii at different growth stages in Yuli County,Bayin′guol Mongolia Au-tonomous Prefecture,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the study was set up with three planting densi-ties of 3060,4335 and 6375 plants/hm2.Agronomic traits such as plant height and leaf length of Apocy-num hendersonii at growing, flowering and podding stages and its feeding value indexes such as crude protein, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber of central leaves were determined and analyzed. The results showed that plant height, leaf length, leaf width, crown width and leaf yield of Apocynum hendersonii tended to increase with increasing planting density, while stem thickness, leaf crude protein, acid detergent fiber, and neutral detergent fiber content tended to decrease with increasing planting den-sity.Leaf crude protein, acid detergent fiber, and neutral detergent fiber contents tended to decrease as fertility progressed.Taking yield and leaf feeding quality into consideration, this study concluded that the optimal harvesting period for Apocynum hendersonii for forage production in Yuli County,Bayin′guol Mongolia Autonomous Prefecture,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,is the blooming period, and planting densities of 6000-6500 plants/hm2 are appropriate.
