Treating Pediatric Cough from Based on the Wind Heat Phlegm and Stagnation
Pediatric cough is a common pulmonary disorder in children, clinically characterized by cough as the main symptom. As the exogenous pathogens are dispelled but internal injury to the viscera has not yet occurred, cough caused by internal factors is be-coming increasingly prevalent. The dichotomous classification of the etiology of pediatric cough, involving the six exogenous pathogenic factors and internal injury to the viscera, has overlooked the holistic view of the integration of internal and external factors in the patho-genesis of pediatric cough in traditional Chinese medicine. This approach no longer meets the needs of diagnosis and treatment of pedi-atric cough.Based on the theoretical principles of traditional Chinese medicine and clinical practice experiences of various medical practitioners, this study proposes that the key pathogenesis of pediatric cough lies in the combination of"wind, heat, phlegm, and stagnation."The concept of"fire stagnation leading to the manifestation of the syndrome"is used to elucidate the treatment of pediatric cough, aiming to provide a reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
