Effects of EEG biofeedback therapy combined with Methylphenidate hydrochloride in treatment of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
Objective:To observe effects of EEG biofeedback therapy combined with Methylphenidate hydrochloride in treatment of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 60 children with ADHD admitted to this hospital from January 2021 to December 2022.According to the random number table method,they were divided into control group and study group,30 cases in each group.The control group was treated with oral Methylphenidate hydrochloride,while the study group was treated with EEG biofeedback on the basis of that of the control group.Continuous treatment lasted for 3 months.The clinical efficacy,the children's behavioral problems[Conners parents questionnaire(PSQ)]score,the audiovisual integration continuous test system(IVA-CPT)score,the sleep quality[Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)]score before and after the treatment,and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was 93.33%(28/30),which was higher than 70.00%(21/30)in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the PSQ scores of moral problems,learning problems,mental disorders,impulse-hyperactivity,anxiety and hyperactivity index and the PSQI score in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the IVA-CPT scores such as comprehensive attention quotient and comprehensive response control quotient in the study group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:EEG biofeedback therapy combined with Methylphenidate hydrochloride in the treatment of the ADHD children can improve the total effective rate of treatment and the IVA-CPT scores,reduce the children's behavioral problem scores,and improve the sleep quality.Moreover,it is superior to single Methylphenidate hydrochloride treatment.
