Effects of Tianma Gouteng decoction combined with Betahistine in treatment of patients with vertigo after stroke
Objective:To observe effects of Tianma Gouteng decoction combined with Betahistine in treatment of patients with vertigo after stroke.Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 88 patients with vertigo after stroke admitted to this hospital from January 2022 to February 2023.They were divided into control group and study group according to the random number table method,44 cases in each.The control group was treated with Betahistine,while the study group was treated with Tianma Gouteng decoction on the basis of that of the control group.The clinical efficacy,the disappearance time of vertigo symptoms and the vertigo degree[vertigo handicap inventory(DHI)]score,the cerebral hemodynamic indexes[anterior cerebral artery(ACA)blood flow velocity,vertebrobasilar artery(BA)blood flow velocity]levels,the serological indexes[calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP),creatine kinase isoenzyme(CK-MB),brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)]levels before and after the treatment,and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was 95.45%(42/44),which was higher than 79.55%(35/44)in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The disappearance time of vertigo symptoms in the study group was shorter than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the DHI scores of the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,that in the study group was lower than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of ACA and BA blood flow velocity in the two groups were higher than those before the treatment,those in the study group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of CGRP,CK-MB and BNP in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,those in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Tianma Gouteng decoction combined with Betahistine tablets can improve the clinical efficacy,relieve the vertigo symptoms,accelerate the cerebral arterial blood circulation,improve the nerve signal transduction and promote the disappearance of vertigo symptoms in the patients with vertigo after stroke.Moreover,it is superior to single Betahistine treatment.
