Correlations among sex hormone index levels, semen quality and sperm DNA fragmentation index in infertile patients
Objective:To analyze correlations among sex hormone index level, semen quality and sperm DNA fragmentation index(DFI)in infertile patients. Methods:The clinical data of 80 patients with infertility who were treated in the hospital from January to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed and they were set as the observation group. The clinical data of 80 healthy subjects in the hospital during the same period were retrospectively analyzed and they were set as the control group. The DFI of the two groups was statistically analyzed. The patients in the observation group with DFI≥30%was set as the abnormal patients, and those with DFI<30%was set as the normal patients. The levels of sex hormone indexes[testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH)]and the semen quality were compared between the two groups and among the abnormal patients and the normal patients. The correlations among the sex hormone index levels, the semen quality and the DFI were analyzed. Results:The DFI of the observation group was(18.93±2.10)%,which was higher than the control group of(15.38±2.05)%,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were 58 cases of DFI≥30%in the observation group, accounting for 72.50%(58/80);and there were 22 cases with DFI<30%,accounting for 27.50%(22/80).The levels of LH and FSH in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the testosterone level, the total sperm count, the sperm concentration, the total sperm motility and the sperm forward motility ratio were lower than those in the control group;and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The testosterone level, the total sperm count, the sperm concentration, the total sperm motility and the sperm forward motility ratio of the abnormal patients were lower than those of the normal patients, the levels of LH and FSH were higher than those of the normal patients, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the testosterone level, the total sperm count, the sperm concentration, the total sperm motility, the sperm forward motility ratio were negatively correlated with DFI(r<0,P<0.05);while the levels of LH and FSH were positively correlated with DFI(r>0,P<0.05).Conclusions:The semen quality and the testosterone level are negatively correlated with DFI in the infertile patients, while the LH and FSH levels are positively correlated with DFI.
