Effects of Huangqi Tongluo decoction combined with VRD chemotherapy in treatment of newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients
Objective:To observe effects of Huangqi Tongluo decoction combined with VRD chemotherapy in treatment of newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients.Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 80 patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma admitted to the hospital from January 2021 to January 2023.According to the random number table method,they were divided into control group and study group,40 cases in each group.The control group was treated with VRD chemotherapy regimen(Bortezomib + Lenalidomide + Dexamethasone),while the study group was treated with Huangqi Tongluo decoction on the basis of that of the control group.21 d was a course of treatment.Both groups were treated for 2 courses.The clinical efficacy,the TCM syndrome scores,the tumor markers[β2-microglobulin(β2-MG),M protein]levels,the coagulation function indexes[prothrombin time(PT),D-dimer(D-D),fibrinogen(FIB)]levels before and after the treatment,and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:The objective response rate(ORR)of the study group was 90.00%(36/40),which was higher than 72.50%(29/40)of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the scores of TCM syndromes such as numbness and tingling of limbs,chest tightness and phlegm,and fatigue in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the levels of M protein,β2-MG,PT,FIB and D-D in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions such as nausea and vomiting,rash and thrombocytopenia between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Huangqi Tongluo decoction combined with VRD chemotherapy in the treatment of the newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients can improve the ORR and reduce the TCM syndrome scores,the tumor marker levels and the coagulation function index levels.Moreover,it is superior to single VRD chemotherapy treatment.
