Comparison of effects of wearing orthokeratology lens and frame glasses in treatment of juvenile myopia
Objective:To compare effects of wearing orthokeratology lens and frame glasses in treatment of juvenile myopia. Methods:The clinical data of 200 cases with juvenile myopia admitted to this hospital from January 2021 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.According to different treatment methods, they were divided into control group and observation group,100 cases in each group. The control group was treated with frame glasses, while the observation group was treated with orthokeratology lens. The uncorrected visual acuity, the diopter, the axial length, the central corneal thickness, the positive relative accommodation level, and the quality of life[general quality of life inventory-74(GQOLI-74)]score were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment. Results:After 3 and 6 months of treatment, the uncorrected visual acuity of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the diopter, the central corneal thickness and the axial length of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the positive relative accommodation level of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,after the treatment, the GQOLI-74 score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Wearing orthokeratology lens in the treatment of juvenile myopia can improve the uncorrected visual acuity, the positive relative accommodation levels and the quality of life scores, and reduce the diopter, the axial length and the central corneal thickness. Moreover,it is superior to frame glasses treatment.
