Effects of nasal cavity expansion surgery combined with modified uvulopalatopharyngoplasty in treatment of patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome
Objective:To observe effects of nasal cavity expansion surgery combined with modified uvulopalatopharyngoplasty in treatment of patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).Methods:The clinical data of 100 patients with OSAHS admitted to the hospital from April 2018 to August 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.According to different treatment methods, they were divided into observation group and control group,50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with modified uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, while the observation group was treated with nasal cavity expansion surgery on the basis of that of the control group. The sleep[Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI),Epworth sleepiness scale(ESS)]score, the apnea hypopnea index(AHI),the negative emotions[self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),self-rating depression scale(SDS)]scores, and the sleep apnea quality of life index(SAQLI)score were compared between the two groups.Results:1 and 6 months after the surgery, the PSQI,ESS,SAS,SDS scores and the AHI levels of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, the SAQLI score was higher than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Nasal cavity expansion surgery combined with modified uvulopalatopharyngoplasty can improve the SAQLI scores and reduce the PSQI,ESS,SAS,SDS scores and the AHI levels in the patients with OSAHS.Moreover,it is superior to single modified uvulopalatopharyngoplasty.
