Correlations and predictive value of serum ESM-1 and sICAM-1 levels with cognitive impairment in patients with Parkinson's disease
Objective:To analyze correlations and predictive value of serum endothelial cell specific molecule-1(ESM-1)and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1)levels with cognitive impairment in patients with Parkinson's disease(PD).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 93 PD patients admitted to the hospital from August 2020 to December 2022.According to the Montreal cognitive assessment scale(MoCA)score, they were divided into normal cognitive group(n=50)and cognitive impairment group(n=43).In addition,50 healthy subjects were selected as the control group. The levels of ESM-1,sICAM-1 and MoCA scores were compared among the three groups.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlations among the serum ESM-1,sICAM-1 levels and cognitive impairment. The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was drawn to analyze the value of single and combined detection of serum ESM-1 and sICAM-1 in the prediction of cognitive impairment in the PD patients. Results:The serum ESM-1 level and the MoCA score of the cognitive impairment group and the cognitive normal group were lower than those of the control group, those of the cognitive impairment group were lower than those of the cognitive normal group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum sICAM-1 levels in the cognitive impairment group and the cognitive normal group were higher than those in the control group, that in the cognitive impairment group was higher than that in the cognitive normal group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that serum ESM-1 level was positively correlated with cognitive function(r>0,P<0.05),and the serum sICAM-1 level was negatively correlated with cognitive function(r<0,P<0.05).ROC curve showed that the area under the curve of single and combined detection of serum ESM-1 and sICAM-1 levels in the prediction of cognitive impairment in the PD patients were 0.643,0.605 and 0.911,separately,among which the combined detection had the highest predictive value. Conclusions:The serum ESM-1 level is positively correlated with cognitive function, and the serum sICAM-1 level is negatively correlated with cognitive function.Further, the value of combined detection of serum ESM-1 and sICAM-1 levels in the prediction of cognitive impairment in the PD patients is higher than that of single detection.
