Diagnostic value of serum PCT,IL-17 and Hb levels in elderly patients with pulmonary infection
Objective:To analyze diagnostic value of serum procalcitonin(PCT),interleukin-17(IL-17)and hemoglobin(Hb)levels in elderly patients with pulmonary infection. Methods:A total of 74 elderly patients with pulmonary infection admitted to the hospital from June 2021 to October 2022 were selected as the study group, and 50 healthy subjects in the same period were selected as the control group. The levels of PCT,IL-17 and Hb in the two groups were compared, and the levels of serum PCT,IL-17 and Hb in the patients with different degrees of pulmonary infection were compared.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlations among the serum PCT,IL-17 and Hb levels and the degree of pulmonary infection. The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was drawn to analyze the efficiency of single and combined detection of serum PCT,IL-17 and Hb levels in the diagnosis of pulmonary infection in the elderly patients. Results:The levels of serum PCT and IL-17 in the study group were higher than those in the control group, the Hb level was lower than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of serum PCT and IL-17 in the severe and moderate pulmonary infection patients were higher than those in the mild patients, and those in the severe pulmonary infection patients were higher than those in the moderate patients;the levels of Hb in the severe and moderate pulmonary infection patients were lower than those in the mild patients, and those in the severe group were lower than those in the moderate patients;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the serum PCT and IL-17 levels were positively correlated with the degree of pulmonary infection(r>0,P<0.05),and the serum Hb level was negatively correlated with the degree of pulmonary infection(r<0,P<0.05).The ROC curve showed that the area under the curve of single and combined detection of serum PCT,IL-17 and Hb levels in the diagnosis of pulmonary infection were 0.780,0.762,0.781 and 0.897,separately,all of which had certain diagnostic efficiency, and the combined detection had the highest diagnostic efficiency in the diagnosis of pulmonary infection in the elderly patients. Conclusions:The levels of serum PCT and IL-17 are positively correlated with the degree of pulmonary infection, and the level of serum Hb is negatively correlated with the degree of pulmonary infection. The efficiency of combined detection of serum PCT,IL-17 and Hb in the diagnosis of pulmonary infection is higher than that of single detection of the three.
