Effects of Gastrodin injection combined with Betahistine in treatment of patients with vertebral-basilar insufficiency vertigo
Objective:To investigate effects of Gastrodin injection combined with Betahistine in treatment of patients with vertebral-basilar insufficiency vertigo(VBIV).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 82 patients with VBIV admitted to this hospital from January 2020 to January 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and study group,41 cases in each group. The control group was treated with intravenous drip of Betahistine hydrochloride sodium chloride injection, while the study group was treated with Gastrodin injection on the basis of that of the control group. The clinical efficacy, the symptom relief time, the vertigo symptoms[dizziness handicap inventory(DHI)]score, the hemorheology indexes[high shear whole blood viscosity(HWBV),plasma viscosity(PV)and erythrocyte aggregation index(EAI)]levels before and after the treatment, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 97.56%(40/41),which was higher than 75.61%(31/41)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The disappearance time of vertigo, nausea and vomiting and the recovery time of balance function in the study group were shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the DHI score and the levels of HWBV,PV and EAI in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Gastrodin injection combined with Betahistine has a significant effect in the treatment of the VBIV patients, which can accelerate the relief of symptoms, relieve the vertigo symptoms and improve the hemorheology index levels. Moreover,it is superior to single Betahistine treatment.
