Application effects of palliative care model nursing in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Objective:To observe application effects of palliative care model nursing in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 172 elderly patients with COPD admitted to the hospital from December 2020 to June 2022.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and observation group,86 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing, while the observation group was given palliative care mode on the basis of that of the control group. The self-management ability score, the disease-related indicators[COPD assessment test(CAT)score, dyspnea index(MRC)score,6-minute walking test(6MWD),the forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1)/forced vital capacity(FVC)]level before and after the nursing, and the nursing compliance score were compared between the two groups. Results:After the nursing, the self-management abilities scores of daily living ability,symptoms,self-efficacy,emotion and information in the two groups were higher than those before the nursing, those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The MRC and CAT scores of the two groups were lower than those before the nursing, and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group;the distances of 6MWD in the two groups were longer than those before the nursing, and that in the observation group was longer than that in the control group;the levels of FEV1/FVC in the two groups were higher than those before the nursing, and those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,the scores of nursing compliance such as dosage, frequency of medication, compliance with treatment, regular review and exercise guidance in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:On the basis of the routine nursing, the palliative care model nursing in the elderly patients with COPD can improve the scores of self-management ability and the nursing compliance, and improve the levels of disease-related indicators. Moreover,it is superior to single routine nursing.
