Effects of Huatan Tongluo decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of cerebral infarction patients with wind-phlegm and blood stasis syndrome
Objective:To explore effects of Huatan Tongluo decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of cerebral infarction patients with wind-phlegm and blood stasis syndrome.Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 80 patients with cerebral infarction admitted to the hospital from July 2022 to July 2023.According to the random number table method,they were divided into control group and observation group,40 cases in each group.The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine,while the observation group was treated with Huatan Tongluo decoction on the basis of that of the control group.The neurological function[National Institute of Health stroke scale(NIHSS)]score,the activities of daily living[Barthel index(BI)]score,the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome score,the hemorheology index levels before and after the treatment,and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:After the treatment,the NIHSS score,the TCM syndrome score,and the levels of high-shear whole blood viscosity,low-shear whole blood viscosity,plasma viscosity and platelet adhesion rate in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,the BI score was higher than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Huatan Tongluo decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in the treatment of the cerebral infarction patients with wind-phlegm and blood stasis syndrome can accelerate symptom relief,reduce the TCM syndrome scores,improve the hemorheology index levels,and improve the neurological function and the activities of daily living.Moreover,it is superior to single western medicine treatment.
