Effects of traction reduction and fixation combined with rigid internal fixation in treatment of patients with traumatic fractures of oral and maxillofacial region
Objective:To observe effects of traction reduction and fixation combined with rigid internal fixation in treatment of patients with traumatic fractures of oral and maxillofacial region. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 80 patients with traumatic fractures of oral and maxillofacial region admitted to this hospital from January 2019 to January 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and observation group,40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with rigid internal fixation, while the observation group was treated with traction reduction and fixation on the basis of that of the control group. Both groups were followed up for 3 months. The excellent and good rate of recovery, the perioperative indexes(operation time, intraoperative blood loss, fracture healing time, hospitalization time, mouth opening degree)levels, the postoperative oral function indexes(mouth opening limitation rate, good rate of temporomandibular joint, good rate of maxillofacial structure recovery, good rate of occlusion)levels, and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results:The excellent and good rate of recovery in the observation group was 97.50%(39/40),which was higher than 80.00%(32/40)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The operation time in the observation group was longer than that in the control group, the fracture healing time and the hospitalization time were shorter than those in the control group, the mouth opening degree was greater than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the intraoperative blood loss between the two groups(P>0.05).The mouth opening limitation rate in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, the good rate of temporomandibular joint, the good rate of maxillofacial structure recovery and the good rate of occlusion were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the observation group was 12.50%(5/40),which was lower than 32.50%(13/40)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Traction reduction and fixation combined with rigid internal fixation in the treatment of the patients with traumatic fracture of oral and maxillofacial region can improve the excellent and good rate of recovery, shorten the fracture healing time and the hospitalization time, improve the levels of postoperative oral function indexes, and reduce the incidence of complications. Moreover,it is superior to single rigid internal fixation, but it will prolong the operation time.
