Effects of Saccharomyces boulardii combined with Lactulose in treatment of children with functional constipation
Objective:To observe effects of Saccharomyces boulardii combined with Lactulose in treatment of children with functional constipation. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 181 children with functional constipation admitted to this hospital from January 2021 to September 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into study group(91 cases)and control group(90 cases). The control group was treated with Lactulose oral solution, and the study group was treated with Saccharomyces boulardii on the basis of that of the control group. The clinical efficacy, the levels of gastrointestinal hormone indexes[gastrin(GAS),motilin(MTL),somatostatin(SS)]before and after the treatment, the improvement time of clinical symptoms, the levels of intestinal neurotransmitter indexes[substance P,nitric oxide(NO)],and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 94.51%(86/91),which was higher than 84.44%(76/90)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of GAS and MTL in the two groups were higher than those before the treatment, and those in the study group were higher than those in the control group;the SS levels of the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, and that in the study group was lower than that in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The normal time of defecation frequency and the normal time of defecation traits in the study group were shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of substance P in the two groups were higher than those before the treatment, and that in the study group was higher than that in the control group;the levels of NO in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, and that in the study group was lower than that in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Saccharomyces boulardii combined with Lactulose in the treatment of the children with functional constipation can improve the total effective rate of treatment, improve the levels of gastrointestinal hormone indexes and intestinal neurotransmitter indexes, and shorten the improvement time of clinical symptoms. Moreover,it is superior to single Lactulose oral solution treatment.
