Comparison of effects of Lithium carbonate and Sodium valproate combined with Olanzapine in treatment of patients with schizophrenia
Objective:To compare effects of Lithium carbonate and Sodium valproate combined with Olanzapine in treatment of patients with schizophrenia.Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 82 patients with schizophrenia admitted to the hospital from May 2021 to May 2023.According to the random number table method,they were divided into study group and control group,41 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Sodium valproate combined with Olanzapine,while the study group was treated with Lithium carbonate combined with Olanzapine.The scores of psychiatric symptoms[positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS)],negative emotions[Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA),Hamilton depression scale(HAMD)],sleep quality[Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale(PSQI)],quality of life[Schizophrenia quality of life scale(SQLS)],and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment.Results:After the treatment,the PANSS scores of positive symptoms,negative symptoms and general psychopathological symptoms in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,those in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the HAMA and HAMD scores of the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,those of the study group were lower than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The PSQI and SQLS scores of the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,those of the study group were lower than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Lithium carbonate combined with Olanzapine can reduce the scores of mental symptoms,negative emotions,sleep quality and quality of life in the patients with schizophrenia.Moreover,it is superior to Sodium valproate combined with Olanzapine treatment.
