Effects of thunder-fire moxibustion combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease with qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome
Objective:To observe effects of thunder-fire moxibustion combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease with qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 60 patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease admitted to the hospital from January 2021 to January 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into observation group and control group,30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine, while the observation group was treated with thunder-fire moxibustion on the basis of that of the control group. The clinical efficacy, the TCM syndrome scores before and after the treatment, the pain degree[visual analogue scale(VAS)]score, the lesion index level, the inflammatory factors[tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),C-reactive protein(CRP)]levels, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 96.67%(29/30),which was higher than 73.33%(22/30)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the scores of TCM syndromes such as chills and cold limbs, fatigue, irregular menstruation and low fever in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The VAS scores of the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, and that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group;the diameter of inflammatory mass and the depth of pelvic effusion in the two groups were smaller than those before the treatment, and those in the observation group were smaller than those in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of CRP and TNF-α in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).During the treatment, there were no obvious adverse reactions in the two groups.Conclusions:Thunder-fire moxibustion combined with conventional Western medicine in the treatment of the patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease can improve the total effective rate of treatment, reduce the TCM syndrome scores, the VAS scores, the inflammatory factor levels, and reduce the diameter of inflammatory mass and the depth of pelvic effusion. Moreover,it is superior to single conventional Western medicine treatment.
