Efficacy of Montelukast sodium combined with Cetirizine in treatment of children with chronic cough
Objective:To observe efficacy of Montelukast sodium combined with Cetirizine in treatment of children with chronic cough. Methods:The clinical data of 70 children with chronic cough admitted to this hospital from March 2022 to March 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.According to different treatment methods, they were divided into study group and control group,35 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Montelukast sodium, while the study group was treated with Cetirizine on the basis of that of the control group. The total effective rate of treatment, the inflammatory factor levels, the lung function index levels, the symptom disappearance time, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:After the treatment, the total effective rate of treatment in the study group was higher than that in the control group, the levels of serum procalcitonin, hypersensitive C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The forced vital capacity, the forced expiratory volume in one second and the forced expiratory volume in one second/forced vital capacity in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The relief time and the disappearance time of cough symptoms in the study group were shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Montelukast sodium combined with Cetirizine in the treatment of the children with chronic cough can effectively improve the lung function, relieve the cough symptoms, control the inflammatory response, improve the treatment efficiency, and has high safety. Moreover,it is superior to single Montelukast sodium treatment.
