Effects of moxibustion and scraping combined with functional electrical stimulation in treatment of patients with hemiplegia after stroke
Objective:To observe effects of moxibustion and scraping combined with functional electrical stimulation in treatment of patients with hemiplegia after stroke. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 85 patients with hemiplegia after stroke admitted to this hospital from January to December 2022.They were divided into study group(43 cases)and control group(42 cases)according to the random number table method. The control group was treated with functional electrical stimulation, while the study group was treated with moxibustion and scraping on the basis of that of the control group. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The clinical efficacy, the lower limb motor function[Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA)]score, the activities of daily[Barthel index(BI)]score, the walking ability[functional walking capacity(FAC)]score, the balance ability[Berg balance scale(BBS)]score, the gait index(step length, step speed, step width)levels, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment. Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 95.35%(41/43),which was higher than 78.57%(33/42)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the scores of FMA,BI,FAC and BBS in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of step length, step speed and step width of the study group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Moxibustion and scraping combined with functional electrical stimulation in the treatment of the patients with hemiplegia after stroke can improve the total effective rate of treatment, the lower limb motor function scores, the activities of daily living scores, the walking ability scores, the balance ability scores, and improve the gait index levels. Moreover,it is superior to single functional electrical stimulation treatment.
