Effects of abdominal acupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding in treatment of simple obesity patients
Objective:To observe effects of abdominal acupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding in treatment of patients with simple obesity. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 120 patients with simple obesity admitted to the hospital from October 2020 to October 2022.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and observation group,60 cases in each group. The control group was treated with diet-exercise-behavior intervention program, while the observation group was treated with abdominal acupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding on the basis of that of the control group. The clinical efficacy, the body mass, the body mass index(BMI),the body fat percentage, the blood lipid index[triacylglycerol(TG),total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)]levels,and the TCM syndrome scores were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment. Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 93.33%(56/60),which was higher than 80.00%(48/60)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the body mass,BMI and body fat percentage of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of TG,TC and LDL-C in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,after the treatment, the scores of TCM syndromes in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:On the basis of the diet-exercise-behavior intervention program, the abdominal acupuncture combined with the acupoint catgut embedding can improve the total effective rate of treatment, reduce the body mass,BMI,body fat percentage and blood lipid index levels and the TCM syndrome scores in the patients with simple obesity. Moreover,it is superior to single diet-exercise-behavior intervention program.
