Effects of Dapagliflozin combined with conventional hypoglycemic drugs in treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Objective:To observe effects of Dapagliflozin combined with conventional hypoglycemic drugs in treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 92 elderly patients with T2DM admitted to the hospital from August 2021 to August 2022.They were divided into study group and control group by using the random number table method,46 cases in each group.The control group was given routine hypoglycemic therapy(Insulin glargine+metformin),while the study group was treated with Dapagliflozin on the basis of that of the control group.The clinical efficacy,the blood glucose indexes[glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),fasting blood glucose(FPG),2 h postprandial blood glucose(2hPG)]levels,the islet function indexes[islet β cell function index(HOMA-β),insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR)]levels,the oxidative stress indexes[superoxide dismutase(SOD),reactive oxygen species(ROS),malondialdehyde(MDA)]levels,and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was 95.65%(44/46),which was higher than 78.26%(36/46)in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the levels of HbA1c,FPG and 2hPG in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the level of HOMA-β in the study group was higher than that in the control group,the level of HOMA-IR was lower than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the level of SOD in the study group was higher than that in the control group,the levels of ROS and MDA were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Dapagliflozin combined with conventional hypoglycemic drugs in the treatment of the elderly patients with T2DM can increase the total effective rate of treatment,improve the levels of islet function indexes and oxidative stress indexes,and reduce the levels of blood glucose indexes.Moreover,it is superior to routine hypoglycemic therapy.
