Effects of small incision non-phacoemulsification in treatment of patients with hard nucleus cataract
Objective:To observe effects of small incision non-phacoemulsification in treatment of patients with hard nucleus cataract. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 70 patients with hard nucleus cataract admitted to the hospital from November 2020 to May 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into study group and control group,35 cases in each group. The control group was treated with traditional phacoemulsification, while the study group was treated with small incision non-phacoemulsification.The clinical efficacy, the levels of clinical indicators(uncorrected visual acuity, intraocular pressure),corneal function indicators(corneal endothelial cell density, central corneal thickness, tear film rupture time)and inflammatory indicators[matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-1β(IL-1β)]before and after the surgery, and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 94.29%(33/35),which was higher than 77.14%(27/35)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).1 month after the surgery, the uncorrected visual acuity level of the study group was higher than that of the control group, the intraocular pressure level was lower than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).1 month after the surgery, the corneal endothelial cell density, tear film rupture time and central corneal thickness in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).7 days after the surgery, the levels of IL-1β,MMP-9 and TNF-α in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Small incision non-phacoemulsification in the treatment of the hard nucleus cataract patients can improve the total effective rate of treatment, improve the levels of clinical indicators and corneal function indicators, and reduce the levels of inflammatory indicators. Moreover,it is superior to traditional phacoemulsification.
