Application effects of core muscle group progressive training combined with medium frequency physiotherapy in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis
Objective:To observe application effects of core muscle group progressive training combined with medium frequency physiotherapy in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 90 patients with knee osteoarthritis admitted to the hospital from March 2021 to February 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group(n=45)and observation group(n=45).The control group was given medium frequency physiotherapy, while the observation group was combined with the core muscle group progressive training on the basis of that of the control group. The pain degree[visual analogue scale(VAS)]score, the knee function[Lysholm knee function,American Hospital for Special Surgery(HSS)]score, and the quadriceps femoris muscle strength[quadriceps femoris surface integral electromyography(iEMG),median frequency(MF)]were compared between the two group before and after the intervention. Results:After 4 and 8 weeks of intervention, the VAS scores of the two groups were lower than those before the intervention, those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The Lysholm and HSS scores of the two groups were higher than those before the intervention, those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,the levels of iEMG and MF of quadriceps femoris in the two groups were higher than those before the intervention, those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:The core muscle group progressive training combined with the medium frequency physiotherapy in the elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis can improve the knee joint function scores and the quadriceps femoris muscle strength levels, and reduce the pain scores. Moreover,it is superior to single medium frequency physiotherapy.
