Correlations among blood lipid index and glycosylated hemoglobin levels and severity and prognosis of patients with diabetic retinopathy
Objective:To analyze correlations among blood lipid index and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)levels and severity and prognosis of patients with diabetic retinopathy(DR).Methods:A total of 96 patients with DR admitted to this hospital from April 2021 to February 2023 were selected as the study group, and 96 healthy subjects were selected as the control group. The levels of blood lipid indexes[total cholesterol(TC),triacylglycerol(TG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)]and HbA1c were detected. The severity and the prognosis of the DR patients were evaluated. The blood lipid indexes and HbA1c levels were compared between the two groups and among the DR patients with different severity and prognosis.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlations among the blood lipid index and HbA1c levels and the severity and prognosis of the DR patients. Results:The levels of TC,TG,LDL-C and HbA1c in the study group were higher than those in the control group, the level of HDL-C was lower than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of TC,TG,LDL-C and HbA1c in the patients with severe DR were higher than those in the patients with mild and moderate DR,that in the patients with moderate DR were higher than those in the patients with mild DR;the level of HDL-C in the patients with severe DR was lower than those in the patients with mild and moderate DR,and that in the patients with moderate DR was lower than that in the patients with mild DR;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of TC,TG,LDL-C and HbA1c in the DR patients with poor prognosis were higher than those in the patients with good prognosis, the level of HDL-C was lower than that in the patients with good prognosis, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the levels of TC,TG,LDL-C and HbA1c were positively correlated with the severity and the prognosis of the DR patients(r>0,P<0.05),while the level of HDL-C was negatively correlated with the severity and the prognosis of the DR patients(r<0,P<0.05).Conclusions:The levels of TC,TG,LDL-C and HbA1c are positively correlated with the severity and the prognosis of the DR patients, while the level of HDL-C was negatively correlated with the severity and the prognosis
