Application effects of Newman system nursing based on peer support in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis
Objective:To observe application effects of Newman system nursing based on peer support in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 117 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis admitted to the hospital from December 2020 to January 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into study group(n=59)and control group(n=58).The control group was given routine nursing, while the study group was given the Newman system nursing based on peer support on the basis of that of the control group. The self-care ability[exercise of self-care agency scale(ESCA)]score, the social support[social support rating scale(SSRS)]score, the quality of life[World Health Organization quality of life-BREF(WHOQOL-BREF)]score before and after the nursing, and the compliance were compared between the two groups. Results:After the nursing, the ESCA,SSRS,WHOQOL-BREF scores of the study group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,the compliance rate of the study group was 96.61%(57/59),which was higher than 84.48%(49/58)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:The Newman system nursing based on peer support in the patients with pulmonary tuberculosis can improve the self-care ability scores, the social support scores, the quality of life scores and the compliance. Moreover,it is superior to the routine nursing.
