Effects of Xingnao Tongdu acupuncture combined with massage on children with cerebral palsy
Objective:To observe effects of Xingnao Tongdu acupuncture combined with massage in treatment of cerebral palsy in children.Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 70 children with cerebral palsy admitted to this hospital from February 2022 to February 2023.According to the random number table method,they were divided into study group and control group,35 cases in each group.The control group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine massage,while the study group was combined with Xingnao Tongdu acupuncture therapy on the basis of that of the control group.The clinical efficacy,the daily living ability[pediatric quality of life inventory-cerebral palsy(PedsQL-CP)]score,the motor function[gross motor function measure(GMFM)]score,the cerebral hemodynamics index[anterior cerebral artery(ACA),basilar artery(BA)blood flow velocity]levels,and the modified Ashworth spasm scale classification were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment.Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 94.29%(33/35),which was higher than 77.14%(27/35)of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the scores of PedsQL-CP,GMFM and the blood flow velocities of ACA and BA in the study group were higher than those in the control group;the modified Ashworth spasm scale classification was lower than that of the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Xingnao Tongdu acupuncture combined with massage is effective in the treatment of cerebral palsy in the children.It can improve the motor function and the self-care ability of these children,improve the cerebral hemodynamic indexes and reduce the degree of limb spasm.Moreover,it is superior to single massage therapy.
