Effects of platelet-rich plasma combined with Minoxidil in treatment of patients with androgenic alopecia
Objective:To observe effects of platelet-rich plasma(PRP)combined with Minoxidil in treatment of patients with androgenetic alopecia(AGA).Methods:The clinical data of 98 patients with AGA admitted to the hospital from November 2019 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.According to different treatment methods, they were divided into control group and observation group,49 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Minoxidil, while the observation group was treated with PRP on the basis of that of the control group. Both groups were treated for 4 months. The clinical efficacy, the trichoscopy indexes(vellus hair ratio, single hair follicle ratio, hair density, hair follicle density)levels, the sex hormones(testosterone,estradiol,testosterone/estradiol)levels,the serological indexes[insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),interleukin-33(IL-33)]levels before and after the treatment, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 95.92%(47/49),which was higher than 83.67%(41/49)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the vellus hair ratio and the single hair follicle ratio in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the hair density and the hair follicle density were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the level of estradiol in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, the levels of testosterone and testosterone/estradiol were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of VEGF and IGF-1 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the level of IL-33 was lower than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:PRP combined with Minoxidil in the treatment of the AGA patients can improve the total effective rate of treatment, improve the levels of trichoscopy indexes and serological indexes, and regulate the levels of sex hormones. Moreover,it is superior to simple Minoxidil treatment.
