Effects of sandplay combined with applied behavior analysis therapy in treatment of children with autism spectrum disorder
Objective:To observe effects of sandplay combined with applied behavior analysis therapy in treatment of children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 82 children with ASD admitted to the hospital from November 2019 to November 2021.According to the random number table method, they were divided into study group and control group,41 cases in each group. The control group was treated with applied behavior analysis therapy, while the study group was treated with sandplay therapy on the basis of that of the control group. The autism behavior assessment scale(ABC)score, the test of gross motor development(TGMD-2)score,and the social response scale(SRS)score were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment. Results:After the treatment, the total score of TGMD-2 in the two groups was higher than that before the treatment, and that in the study group was higher than that in the control group;the total scores of ABC and SRS in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and those in the study group were lower than those in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Sandplay combined with applied behavior analysis therapy can improve the TGMD-2 scores and reduce the ABC and SRS scores in the children with ASD.Moreover,it is superior to single applied behavior analysis therapy.
