Effects of Governor vessel acupuncture on patients with lumbar disc herniation of cold-dampness obstruction type
Objective:To explore effects of Governor vessel acupuncture on patients with lumbar disc herniation(LDH)of cold-dampness obstruction type. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 90 patients with LDH of cold-dampness obstruction type admitted to this hospital from June 2022 to December 2023.They were divided into control group and observation group by using the random number table method,45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with oral Celecoxib capsules, while the observation group was treated with Governor vessel acupuncture(Governor vessel moxibustion+points acupuncture). The clinical efficacy, the TCM syndrome scores, the lumbar function[Japanese Orthopaedic Association low back pain scale(JOA)],the quality of life[Oswestry dysfunction index(ODI)],the serum pain factors[5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),prostaglandin E2(PGE2)]levels,and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment. Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 93.33%(42/45),which was higher than 75.56%(34/45)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment, the JOA score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group;the TCM syndrome score, the ODI score and the serum 5-HT and PGE2 levels were lower than those of the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Governor Vessel acupuncture can improve the total effective rate of treatment, reduce the TCM syndrome scores, the ODI scores and the serum pain factor levels, and improve the lumbar function in the patients with LDH of cold-dampness obstruction type. Moreover,it is superior to the conventional Western medicine treatment.
