Comparison of effects of interlocking intramedullary nail internal fixation and plate internal fixation in treatment of patients with femoral fractures
Objective:To compare effects of interlocking intramedullary nail internal fixation and plate internal fixation in treatment of patients with femoral fractures. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 68 patients with femoral fractures admitted to the hospital from September 2021 to September 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and study group,34 cases in each group. The control group was treated with plate internal fixation, while the study group was treated with interlocking intramedullary nail fixation. The excellent and good rate of recovery, the perioperative indicators(operation time, intraoperative blood loss, fracture healing time, hospitalization time)levels, the hip function before and after the surgery[Harris hip scale(HHS)]score, the pain[visual analogue scale(VAS)]score, the activities of daily living[Barthel index(BI)]score, and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results:The excellent and good rate of recovery in the study group was 94.12%(32/34),which was higher than 76.47%(26/34)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The operation time, the fracture healing time and the hospitalization time of the study group were shorter than those of the control group, the intraoperative blood loss was less than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).6 months after the surgery, the scores of HHS and BI in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).1 and 3 months after the surgery, the VAS scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,the incidence of complications in the study group was 5.88%(5/34),which was lower than 26.47%(9/34)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Interlocking intramedullary nail internal fixation for the treatment of the patients with femoral fractures can improve the excellent and good rate of recovery, the hip function scores and the activities of daily living scores, improve the levels of perioperative indicators, and reduce the pain scores and the incidence of complications. Moreover,it is superior to plate internal fixation.
