Effects of Propranolol combined with conventional drugs in treatment of postoperative patients with liver cirrhosis and esophageal and gastric variceal bleeding
Objective:To observe effects of Propranolol combined with conventional drugs in treatment of postoperative patients with liver cirrhosis and esophageal and gastric variceal bleeding. Methods:From January 2020 to January 2023,84 patients with liver cirrhosis and esophageal and gastric variceal bleeding who underwent endoscopic variceal ligation in the hospital were selected for the prospective study.According to the random number table method, they were divided into study group and control group,42 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional drugs(Somatostatin+Omeprazole)after the surgery, while the study group was treated with Propranolol on the basis of that of the control group. The clinical efficacy, the portal vein index(portal vein blood flow velocity, portal vein blood flow)levels before and after the treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions, and the rebleeding rate of esophageal and gastric varices were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 95.24%(40/42),which was higher than 78.57%(33/42)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of portal vein blood flow velocity and portal vein blood flow in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).The rebleeding rate of esophageal and gastric varices in the study group was 2.38%(1/42),which was lower than 19.05%(8/42)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Propranolol combined with conventional drugs can improve the total effective rate of treatment, improve the levels of portal vein indexes and reduce the rebleeding rate in the postoperative patients with liver cirrhosis and esophageal and gastric variceal bleeding. Moreover,it is superior to simple conventional drug treatment.
