Comparison of effects of Paroxetine and Fluoxetine in treatment of young and middle-aged patients with generalized anxiety disorder
Objective:To compare effects of Paroxetine and Fluoxetine in treatment of young and middle-aged patients with generalized anxiety disorder. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 70 young and middle-aged patients with generalized anxiety disorder admitted to this hospital from February 2022 to February 2023.They were divided into control group and study group by using the random number table method,35 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Fluoxetine, while the study group was treated with Paroxetine. The clinical efficacy, the anxiety[Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)]and the sleep quality[Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)]scores before and 1 and 3 months after the treatment, and the serum cytokine indexes[glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),superoxide dismutase(SOD)]levels before and after the treatment were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was 100.00%(35/35),which was higher than 82.86%(29/35)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 1 and 3 months of treatment, the scores of HAMA and PSQI in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,after the treatment, the levels of GSH-Px,5-HT and SOD in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Paroxetine in the treatment of the young and middle-aged patients with generalized anxiety disorder can improve the total effective rate of treatment and the serum cytokine levels, and reduce the HAMA and PSQI scores. Moreover,it is superior to Fluoxetine treatment.
