Effects of Escitalopram combined with Aripiprazole in treatment of elderly patients with schizophrenia complicated with depression
Objective:To observe effects of Escitalopram combined with Aripiprazole in treatment of elderly patients with schizophrenia and depression.Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 92 elderly patients with schizophrenia and depression admitted to this hospital from January 2021 to January 2024.According to the random number table method,they were divided into control group and observation group,46 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Aripiprazole,while and the observation group was treated with Escitalopram oxalate on the basis of that of the control group.The clinical efficacy,the depression degree[Calgary depression scale for schizophrenia(CDSS-C)]score,the social function[scale of social function deficit for mantal disorders(SSFD-MD)]score,the nerve factor[5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),dopamine(DA),neurotrophic factor-3(NT-3)]levels before and after the treatment,and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 91.30%(42/46),which was higher than 71.74%(33/46)of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).After the treatment,the depression experience,self-evaluation scores and the total score of CDSS-C in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The SSFD-MD scores of self-care,communication,family life,getting along with people and social participation in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The levels of 5-HT,DA and NT-3 in the two groups were higher than those before the treatment,those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusions:Escitalopram combined with Aripiprazole in the treatment of the elderly patients with schizophrenia and depression can improve the total effective rate of treatment and the levels of nerve factors,and reduce the depression scores and the social function scores.Moreover,it is superior to simple Aripiprazole treatment.
