Effects of acupuncture combined with Mecobalamin acupoint injection in treatment of patients with lumbar disc herniation
Objective:To observe effects of acupuncture combined with Mecobalamin acupoint injection in treatment of patients with lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 86 patients with LDH admitted to the hospital from April 2022 to March 2023.According to the random number table method,they were divided into control group and study group,43 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Mecobalamin acupoint injection,while the study group was treated with acupuncture on the basis of that of the control group.The clinical efficacy,the pain degree[visual analogue scale(VAS)]score,the lumbar function[Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)]score,the inflammatory factors[interleukin-1(IL-1),interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)]levels,and the lumbar range of motion(flexion,lateral flexion,extension)were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment.Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 93.02%(40/43),which was higher than 76.74%(33/43)of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).After the treatment,the VAS scores of the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,and that in the study group was lower than that in the control group;the JOA scores of the two groups were higher than those before the treatment,and that in the study group was higher than that in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The levels of IL-1,IL-6 and TNF-α in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,those in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Further,the lumbar flexion,lateral flexion and extension range of motion levels of the two groups were greater than those before the treatment,those in the study group were greater than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusions:Acupuncture combined with Mecobalamin acupoint injection in the treatment of the LDH patients can improve the clinical efficacy,relieve the pain symptoms,and improve the lumbar range of motion and the lumbar function.Moreover,it is superior to single Mecobalamin acupoint injection treatment.
