Influencing factors of seroma after laparoscopic hernia repair in elderly patients with inguinal hernia
Objective:To analyze influencing factors of seroma in elderly patients after laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted on 60 elderly patients with inguinal hernia admitted to this hospital from January 2021 to November 2023.All patients underwent laparoscopic hernia repair. These patients were followed up for 3 months.According to whether seroma occurred after the surgery, they were divided into occurrence group(n=14)and non-occurrence group(n=46).The general data of these patients were collected.Logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of seroma in the elderly patients after laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. Results:Among the 60 elderly patients after laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair,14 cases(23.33%)developed seromas, including 3 cases of type Ⅰ,5 cases of type Ⅱ,4 cases of type Ⅲ,and 2 cases of type Ⅳ;and there were 48 cases(76.67%)without seromas. There were no statistically significant differences in the proportions of gender, age, and hernia sac treatment between the two groups(P>0.05).The proportions of the patients with BMI>24 kg/m2,bilateral hernia, direct hernia, hernia sac diameter>4 cm,surgery time>60 minutes, intraoperative bleeding>10 mL,and ordinary patches in the incidence group proportion were higher than those in the non-occurrence group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The Logistic regression analysis showed that BMI>24 kg/m2,bilateral hernia, direct hernia, hernia sac diameter>4 cm,surgery time>60 min, intraoperative bleeding>10 mL,and ordinary patch were all risk factors for seroma in the elderly patients after laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair(OR>1,P<0.05).Conclusions:BMI>24 kg/m2,bilateral hernia, direct hernia, hernia sac diameter>4 cm,surgery time>60 min, intraoperative bleeding>10 mL,and ordinary patch are the risk factors for serum swelling in the elderly patients after laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair.
