Effects of Duhuo Jisheng decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of patients with knee osteoarthritis
Objective:To observe effects of Duhuo Jisheng decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 80 patients with KOA admitted to the hospital from December 2021 to December 2023.According to the random number table method,they were divided into control group and observation group,40 cases in each group.The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine(Celecoxib+Glucosamine sulfate),while the observation group was treated with Duhuo Jisheng decoction on the basis of that of the control group.The clinical efficacy,the TCM syndrome scores,the joint function[Western Ontario and McMaster University of orthopedic index(WOMAC)]score,the inflammatory factors[interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-1β(IL-1β),C-reactive protein(CRP)]levels before and after the treatment,and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 97.50%(39/40),which was higher than 75.00%(30/40)of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the scores of TCM syndromes such as main symptoms and secondary symptoms and the WOMAC score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the levels of IL-6,CRP and IL-1β in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Duhuo Jisheng decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in the treatment of the KOA patients can improve the total effective rate of treatment and reduce the TCM syndrome scores,the joint function scores and the inflammatory factor levels.Moreover,it is superior to simple conventional Western medicine treatment.
