Effects of traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with small needle knife in treatment of patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy
Objective:To observe effects of traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with small needle knife in treatment of patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy.Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 90 patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy admitted to this hospital from August 2021 to June 2022.According to the random number table method,they were divided into study group and control group.45 cases each.The control group was treated with small needle knife,while the study group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine fumigation on the basis of that of the control group.The clinical efficacy,the cervical function[clinical assessment scale for cervical spondylosis(CASCS)],the pain degree[visual analogue scale(VAS)],the cervical range of motion,and the symptom improvement time before and after the treatment,and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 88.89%(40/45),which was higher than 71.11%(32/45)of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the VAS score of the study group was lower than that of the control group;the CASCS score was higher than that of the control group;the angles of cervical anteflexion,posterior extension,left rotation,right rotation,left flexion and right flexion were larger than those of the control group;the pain disappearance time,the limb numbness disappearance time and the grip strength recovery time were shorter than those in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with small needle knife is effective in the treatment of the patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy.It can accelerate the disappearance of symptoms,reduce the pain degree,increase the cervical range of motion and improve the cervical function.Moreover,it is superior to simple needle knife treatment.
