Effects of Ginkgo biloba extract combined with Dexamethasone in treatment of patients with sudden deafness
Objective:To observe effects of Ginkgo biloba extract combined with Dexamethasone in treatment of patients with sudden deafness. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 82 patients with sudden deafness admitted to the hospital from August 2020 to August 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into study group and control group,41 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Dexamethasone, while the study group was treated with Ginkgo biloba extract on the basis of that of the control group. The clinical efficacy, the pure tone hearing threshold values before and after the treatment, the disappearance time of clinical symptoms(tinnitus and ear fullness, nausea and vomiting, dizziness and vertigo),the levels of oxidative stress indexes[endothelin(ET),nitric oxide(NO),soluble vascular cell adhesion factor-1(sVCAM-1)],the levels of hemorheology indexes[plasma viscosity(PV),fibrinogen(FIB),whole blood low shear viscosity(LBV)],and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was 95.12%,which was higher than 78.05%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the pure tone hearing threshold values at 1 kHz,2 kHz and 4 kHz in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The disappearance time of clinical symptoms such as tinnitus, nausea and vomiting, dizziness and vertigo in the study group were shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of ET and sVCAM-1 in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, and those in the study group were lower than those in the control group;the levels of NO in the two groups were higher than those before the treatment, and that in the study group was higher than that in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of PV,FIB and LBV in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Ginkgo biloba extract injection combined with Dexamethasone in the treatment of the patients with sudden deafness can improve the total effective rate of treatment, shorten the disappearance time of clinical symptoms, improve the levels of oxidative stress indexes, reduce the levels of pure tone hearing threshold and hemorheology indexes. Moreover,it is superior to simple Dexamethasone treatment.
