Effects of multi-canal fiber posts combined with Zirconia all-ceramic crowns in treatment of patients with large molar defects
Objective:To observe effects of multi-canal fiber posts combined with Zirconia all-ceramic crowns in treatment of patients with large molar defects. Methods:The clinical data of 104 patients with large molar defects admitted to this hospital from April 2021 to April 2023 were selected for the prospective study.According to the random number table method, they were divided into observation group and control group,52 cases in each group. The control group was treated with metal post combined with Zirconia all-ceramic crown restoration, while the observation group was treated with multi-canal fiber post combined with Zirconia all-ceramic crown restoration. The success rate of restoration, the aesthetic effect score after the treatment, and the periodontal indexes[gingival bleeding index(GBI),plaque index(PLI)]before and after the treatment were compared between the two groups. Results:The success rate of restoration in the observation group was 98.08%,which was significantly higher than 82.69%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Six months after the treatment, the aesthetic effect score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,6 months after the treatment, the levels of periodontal indexes such as GBI and PLI in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Multi-canal fiber posts combined with Zirconia all-ceramic crowns in the treatment of large molar defects can improve the success rate of restoration and reduce the aesthetic effect scores and the periodontal index levels. Moreover,it is superior to metal post combined with Zirconia all-ceramic crown restoration.
