Application effects of six Sigma management in peripherally inserted central venous catheter catheterization in neonate
Objective:To observe application effects of six Sigma management in peripherally inserted central venous catheter(PICC)catheterization in neonates. Methods:The clinical data of 134 neonates who underwent PICC catheterization in this hospital from October 2019 to September 2020 were retrospectively analyzed and they were included in control group. The clinical data of 134 neonates who underwent PICC catheterization in this hospital from October 2020 to September 2021 were retrospectively analyzed and they were set as observation group. The control group implemented the routine PICC management, while the observation group used the six Sigma management. The catheterization related indicators(catheterization time, bleeding volume,one-time catheterization success rate)levels, the management quality score, the incidences of complications, and the catheterization satisfaction score were compared between the two groups. Results:The catheterization time of the observation group was shorter than that of the control group, the bleeding volume was less than that of the control group, the one-time catheterization success rate was higher than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The management quality scores of wound maintenance, catheter management, drug management and limb management in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the observation group was 14.93%(20/134),which was lower than 36.57%(49/134)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,the satisfaction scores of operation process, psychological support, management attitude and management results in the observation group of parents were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:The six Sigma management in the neonatal PICC can improve the levels of catheterization related indicators, improve the management quality scores and the catheterization satisfaction scores, and reduce the incidence of complications. Moreover,it is superior to the routine PICC management.
