Effects of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair in treatment of patients with rotator cuff injury
Objective:To observe effects of arthroscopic rotator cuffrepair in treatment of patients with rotator cuffinjury. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 60 patients with rotator cuffinjury admitted to this hospital from July 2021 to September 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into study group and control group,30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with open rotator cuffrepair, while the study group was treated with arthroscopic rotator cuffrepair. The clinical efficacy, the perioperative related index levels, the shoulder joint function[University of California,Los Angeles(UCLA)]score, the shoulder range of motion, the stress index[serum cortisol and β-endorphin]levels before and after the surgery, and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results:The excellent and good rate of treatment in the study group was 93.33%(28/30),and that in the control group was 90.00%(27/30);there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).The intraoperative blood loss and the postoperative drainage volume of the study group were less than those of the control group;the postoperative visual analogue scale(VAS)score and the serum cortisol and β-endorphin levels were lower than those of the control group;the hospitalization time was shorter than that of the control group;the postoperative UCLA score was higher than that of the control group;the shoulder abduction, adduction, flexion and extension angles were greater than those of the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the study group was 6.67%(2/30),which was lower than 26.67%(8/30)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:The excellent and good rate of arthroscopic rotator cuffrepair for rotator cuffinjury is comparable to that of open surgery, but the trauma is small. It can reduce the intraoperative blood loss, the postoperative drainage, the pain, the stress response levels and the incidence of complications, shorten the hospitalization time, and improve the shoulder joint function and range of motion. Moreover,it is superior to open rotator cuffrepair.
