Effects of self-made enema decoction combined with Sulfasalazine in treatment of patients with ulcerative colitis
Objective:To observe effects of self-made enema decoction combined with Sulfasalazine in treatment of patients with ulcerative colitis.Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 60 patients with ulcerative colitis admitted to the hospital from October 2022 to October 2023.They were divided into control group and observation group by using the random number table method,30 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Sulfasalazine,while the observation group was treated with self-made enema decoction on the basis of that of the control group.The therapeutic effect,the number of intestinal flora,the levels of serum inflammatory factors[tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin(IL)-6,IL-10]before and after the treatment,and the incidence of adverse reactions during treatment were compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 93.33%(28/30),which was higher than 63.33%(19/30)of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).After the treatment,the number of Enterococcus,Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium in the observation group was higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).After the treatment,the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,the level of IL-10 was higher than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Further,the incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 6.67%(2/30),which was lower than 33.33%(10/30)in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusions:Self-made enema decoction combined with Sulfasalazine in the treatment of the patients with ulcerative colitis can improve the total effective rate and the number of intestinal flora,improve the levels of serum inflammatory factors,and reduce the incidence of adverse reactions.Moreover,it is superior to simple Sulfasalazine treatment.
