Effects of Thymalfasin combined with fiberoptic bronchoscopy sputum suction lavage in treatment of patients with severe pneumonia complicated with acute respiratory failure
Objective:To observe effects of Thymalfasin combined with fiberoptic bronchoscopy sputum suction lavage in treatment of patients with severe pneumonia(SP)complicated with acute respiratory failure(ARF).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 80 patients with SP and ARF admitted to this hospital from November 2021 to November 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and study group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with fiberoptic bronchoscopy sputum suction lavage, while the study group was treated with Thymalfasin on the basis of that of the control group. The clinical efficacy, the levels of blood gas analysis indexes[arterial partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2),arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide(PaCO2),arterial oxygen saturation(SaO2)],the lung function indexes[forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory volume in the one second(FEV1),FEV1/FVC],and the inflammatory factors[C-reactive protein(CRP),procalcitonin(PCT),interleukin-8(IL-8)]before and after the treatment, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 90.00%(36/40),which was higher than that of the control group 72.50%(29/40),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of PaO2 and SaO2 in the two groups were higher than those before the treatment, and those in the study group were higher than those in the control group;the PaCO2 levels of the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, and that in the study group was lower than that in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of FVC,FEV1 and FEV1/FVC in the two groups were higher than those before the treatment, those in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of CRP,PCT and IL-8 in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the study group were lower than the control group, those in the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Thymalfasin combined with fiberoptic bronchoscopy sputum suction and lavage in the treatment of the SP patients with ARF can improve the total effective rate of treatment and the levels of lung function indexes, improve the levels of blood gas analysis indexes, and reduce the levels of inflammatory factors. Moreover,it is superior to simple fiberoptic bronchoscopy sputum suction lavage treatment.
