Comparison of effects of laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal hernia repair and open tension-free hernia repair in treatment of patients with indirect inguinal hernia
Objective:To compare effects of laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal hernia repair(TAPP)and open tension-free hernia repair in treatment of patients with indirect inguinal hernia. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 90 adult patients with primary indirect inguinal hernia admitted to this hospital from September 2020 to September 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and study group,45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with open tension-free hernia repair, while the study group was treated with TAPP.The perioperative index levels, the matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2)levels,the quality of life[general quality of life inventory-74(GQOLI-74)]score before and after the surgery, the postoperative pain degree[visual analogue scale(VAS)]score, and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results:The first out-of-bed time and the operation time of the study group were shorter than those of the control group, the intraoperative blood loss was less than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).At 3 days after the surgery, the GQOLI-74 scores of psychological function, material life status, physical function and social function in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).At 7 days after the surgery, the level of MMP-2 in the study group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).At 1 and 3 days after the surgery, the VAS scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,the incidence of complications in the study group was 6.67%(3/45),which was lower than 22.22%(10/45)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:TAPP in the treatment of the patients with indirect inguinal hernia can improve the quality of life scores, improve and reduce the levels of perioperative indexes, and reduce the levels of MMP-2,the VAS scores and the incidence of complications. Moreover,it is superior to open tension-free hernia repair.
