Influencing factors of dry eye in elderly patients after cataract surgery
Objective:To analyze influencing factors of dry eye in elderly patients after cataract surgery. Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted on 320 elderly patients with cataract admitted to the hospital from October 2020 to July 2023.All patients underwent ultrasonic phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation. These patients were followed up for 3 months.According to the occurrence of dry eye, they were divided into the occurrence group(n=62)and the non-occurrence group(n=258).The general data of these patients were collected.Logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of dry eye in these elderly patients after cataract surgery. Results:Among the 3320 elderly patients after cataract surgery,62 cases had dry eye, accounting for 19.38%,and 258 cases did not suffer from dry eye, accounting for 80.63%.The univariate analysis showed that there were no significant differences in the proportions of gender, age, smoking history, drinking history, hypertension, ultrasound cumulative dissipated energy, lens nucleus hardness, eye allergy history, fundus disease history, pterygium, cataract type between the two groups(P>0.05).The proportions of diabetes mellitus, phacoemulsification time≥20 s,daily visual display terminal(VDT)use time≥2 h,clear corneal incision,incision≥2.8 mm in the occurrence group were higher than those in the non-occurrence group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that diabetes, phacoemulsification time≥20 s,daily VDT use time≥2 h,clear corneal incision,incision≥2.8 mm were all risk factors for dry eye after senile cataract surgery(OR>1,P<0.05).Conclusions:Diabetes,phacoemulsification time≥20 s,daily VDT use time≥2 h,clear corneal incision,incision≥2.8 mm are the risk factors for dry eye after senile cataract surgery.
