Effects of endovenous laser ablation combined with high ligation of great saphenous vein and point stripping in treatment of patients with lower extremity varicose veins
Objective:To observe effects of endovenous laser ablation combined with high ligation of great saphenous vein and point stripping in treatment of patients with lower extremity varicose veins. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 66 patients with lower extremity varicose veins admitted to the hospital from November 2021 to November 2022.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and study group,33 cases in each group. The control group was treated with high ligation of great saphenous vein combined with point stripping, while the study group was treated with endovenous laser ablation on the basis of that of the control group. The levels of operation-related indexes(intraoperative blood loss, operation time, postoperative ambulation time, hospitalization time),the symptom-related index levels, the incidence of complications, and the recurrence rate were compared between the two groups. Results:There were no significant differences in the intraoperative blood loss, the operation time and the hospitalization time between the two groups(P>0.05).The postoperative ambulation time in the study group was shorter than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of operation-related indexes such as lower limb pigmentation, lower limb soreness and pain, lower limb swelling and lower limb ulcer in the study group were better than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the study group was 12.12%(4/33),which was lower than 33.33%(11/33)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the recurrence rate between the two groups 6 and 12 months after the surgery(P>0.05).Conclusions:Endovenous laser ablation combined with high ligation of great saphenous vein and point stripping can shorten the postoperative ambulation time, improve the operation-related indexes levels and reduce the incidence of complications in the patients with lower extremity varicose veins. Moreover,it is superior to high ligation of great saphenous vein combined with point stripping.
