Application effects of Nd∶YAG laser combined with periodontal non-surgical treatment in elderly patients with chronic periodontitis
Objective:To observe application effects of Nd∶YAG laser combined with periodontal non-surgical treatment in elderly patients with chronic periodontitis(CP).Methods:The clinical data of 100 elderly patients with CP admitted to the hospital from January to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.According to different treatment methods,they were divided into study group and control group,50 cases in each group.The control group was given periodontal non-surgical treatment,while the study group was treated with Nd∶YAG laser on the basis of that of the control group.Both groups were treated for 3 months.The levels of periodontal indexes[probing depth(PD),periodontal attachment level(CAL),plaque index(PLI),gingival sulcus bleeding index(SBI)],gingival crevicular fluid inflammatory factors[interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6,IL-8,high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)]and periodontal microcirculation indexes[gingival blood flow velocity(BCV),blood flow(GBF)],and the masticatory efficiency were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment.Results:After the treatment,the PLI and SBI scores and the PD and CAL levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the levels of IL-1β,IL-6,IL-8 and hs-CRP in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,after the treatment,the levels of BCV,GBF and masticatory efficiency in the study group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:The Nd∶YAG laser combined with periodontal non-surgical treatment in the elderly patients with CP can reduce the levels of periodontal indexes and inflammatory factors in gingival crevicular fluid,and improve the levels of periodontal microcirculation indexes and masticatory efficiency.Moreover,it is superior to simple periodontal non-surgical treatment.
